A handful of nuts is how many calories exactly?⠀

During nutrition consultations there are questions about ‘good 😇and bad 😈foods’.
Eat too much of anything and it will tip the energy balance ⚖️the wrong way📈.⠀
⠀⠀
Nuts are one of those grey areas because they’re full of good fats😇 right? Yes they are and different nuts have different vitamins but eat too many and those nuts 🥜 will contribute to an excess of calories consumed.⠀
⠀
You don’t have to track calories to be successful when it comes to fat loss, but you do need to have ‘calorie awareness’ to exercise portion control🤔.⠀
⠀
Going back to the question, it depends on how big your hand ✋is and how much you fill it.⠀
⠀
My handful was 215 calories but then how many times will you dip into the nut jar🤫?⠀
⠀⠀
If you prefer your nuts in a bowl, that handful looks meagre so you chuck a few more in and then you end up with 100g coming in at whopping 583 calories😱.⠀
⠀
Start out with a controlled portion of 25g and you’re looking at 145 calories🙂.⠀⠀
⠀
Peanut butter is something that a lot of us turn to at snack time. A tablespoon of the stuff with an apple 🍏has become a popular snack but how often do you weigh out the peanut butter?⠀
⠀
My first attempt came out as 20g 126 calories, but when I went back for a proper dollop it came out at 47g and 296 calories🤦‍♀️.⠀
